Liverpool could be without two star men in Andy Carroll and Jamie Carragher, however, with the two picking up concerning injuries last Sunday at the Emirates. Liverpool continue on their quest for European football this Saturday, where relegation battlers Birmingham City will be at Anfield. Liverpool will have the upper hand on rest, with City losing 3-1 at Chelsea Wednesday evening. Liverpool's form has been on the up however, and Birmingham have slipped up since their Carling Cup triumph over Arsenal.

Dalglish told a pre-match press conference at Melwood: "We'll have to wait and see on Carra and Andy before the weekend, but it's only Thursday morning before we've even trained, so we've not got anything conclusive about either.

The Reds will hope that Carragher and Carroll will be in contention for the squad on Saturday, and will make their final checks tommorow. Liverpool will like their chances, after enjoying a six game unbeaten run at Anfield, winning four and drawing two. Liverpool will be without injured quartet Daniel Agger, Martin Kelly, Glen Johnson and Fabio Aurelio for the match, leaving spots open for youngsters Danny Wilson, Jack Robinson and John Flanagan. Liverpool drew their last outing with Arsenal, and drew 0-0 away to Birmingham earlier this season.

Liverpool's young full backs Robinson and Flanagan have recieved heavy praise over their recent performances, but at 16 and 17, Dalglish knows they must handle the two with care. Liverpool play Birmingham City at Anfield on Saturday at 3pm.But they are very level headed and the boys that come through the Academy do so with the same principals that are relevant to being a decent footballer - and that's that the team comes first. There's no chance of yourselves (journalists) keeping your feet on the ground, so we've got to do that for them.We just hope it continues, but at the same time we're not going to get carried away and we're not going to destroy the boys.

We've got to be conscious of the fact they are only kids and we've got to know, and look for, any wee signs maybe it's a proper time to give them a rest if they need it.He said: "We're delighted with what they've done and the fact it's been against Man City and Arsenal speaks volumes for them and the way they've been brought up. We've got to look after them and be consistent. We've got to keep our feet on the ground.
