AMA Supercross 2013 Arlington Tx Live Stream Rd 7

The 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series heads east this weekend to Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which is just outside of Dallas. This is the first stadium of 2013 with an open dome, meaning weather will have an impact on the race.

Carrying a 19-point lead into round seven at Arlington Saturday evening is Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Davi Millsaps. The RM-Z450 rider is coming off his second win of the 2013 SX season, Millsaps winning last weekend’s San Diego round ahead of Muscle Milk Honda’s Justin Barcia and Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, respectively.

Following his win at the season opener in Anaheim, Millsaps has led the point battle through all six of 17 rounds.

At San Diego, Millsaps got off the line quickly with Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing Suzuki’s Broc Tickle and TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed. He had the lead after turn one, and never looked back, riding 20 clean laps en route to the win.

Davi Millsaps (Rockstar Energy Suzuki RM-Z450 Supercross) says: “What can I say, when you’re able to pull the holeshot and ride 20 clean laps you make life a lot easier on yourself. It’s been a great start to the season and everyone is working hard to make this happen. You have to be there every week in order to have a chance to win this thing (the championship), and we’re doing our best to keep it out front.”

As for the two-time defending 450 SX champion, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto finished sixth at San Diego. At last year’s Cowboys Stadium Supercross event, Villopoto took his third win of the season.
With six of 17 rounds completed, Millsaps holds a 19-point lead over Dungey, with Villopoto a further 27 points back in third.

Besides the 450 SX, action, Arlington also begins the 2013 Eastern Regional 250 SX Class Championship. The Western Regional 250 SX Class  will now break from competition until April 20 in Seattle. At San Diego, GEICO Honda’s Eli Tomac took the win, his fourth of the 2013 Western SX season.
At last year’s Cowboys Stadium 250 SX event, the eventual champion Barcia – then riding for GEICO Honda – took his first win of the season.

Since Monster Energy Supercross first debuted at Cowboys Stadium in 2010, an average of 51,500 fans have packed the stadium each year to watch their favorite riders battle for the top spot. 2013 will be the 33rd time the gates will drop for a 450SX Class race in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area. It will also be the 28th time the riders will line up at the starting gate for an Eastern Regional 250SX Class race, Feld Motor Sports reports.

Monster Energy Supercross has a storied history in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the first-ever supercross race being held in Dallas on March 1, 1975, just a year after the sport’s beginning. From 1983-2008, Texas Stadium hosted 26-consecutive Monster Energy Supercross races and is regarded as one of the sport’s most historical cities having hosted, Feld Motor Sports reports.

Much like the previous round in Oakland, the start of the Anaheim 3 race was marked by a pile-up that frustrated the hopes of some top riders. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto was one of the hardest hit, falling back as far as 18th at one point and having to battle up through the pack to earn his eventual eighth-place finish. Two Two Motorsports’ Chad Reed was also set back, but he fared better than RV and was able to push up to fifth before the finish. MotoConcepts’ Mike Alessi came out strong off the start, but slipped to the very back of the pack following a number of mistakes throughout the round.

Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart rode free from major difficulty for one of the first times this season, battling up front for podium position throughout the contest. A few late race bobbles cost him a spot on the rostrum though, allowing Barcia to get past in the final laps. Stewart earned his best result of the year, to this point at least, finishing in fourth. Behind Reed in fifth, Honda rider Andrew Short proved that the recent behind-the-scenes team changes haven’t affected his ability to keep pace with his factory-backed competitors, taking sixth. Barcia’s teammate, Trey Canard, went down more than once during the race, but was able to salvage position to finish in seventh.

Millsaps remains the overall points leader, now sitting 14 points ahead of new second-placed rider, Dungey. Canard slipped to third overall, but trails the KTM rider by a single point. Villopoto’s eighth-place finish at Anaheim 3 was enough to keep him in fourth overall, just 17 points off Millsaps’ lead.

In the previous round at the end of the day, Anaheim 1 was a preview of what may become the most competitive series in the history of the sport. If James Stewart’s knee is not torn and everyone can stay healthy, we could conceivably see as many as fifteen different riders on the podium and, possibly, seven or more different winners. When you look down the line, there are only a handful of riders that have no chance of making the podium. With nine previous winners in the 450SX class signed up in 2013, there are almost as many capable of winning. If guys like Jake Weimer, Kevin Windham, Justin Brayton, Andrew Short and Broc Tickle can find some confidence, we may have the most winners a season has ever seen.

Preview :
Following one of the most exciting seasons in the series' history, the 2013 Monster Energy AMA Supercross throttles into action this weekend at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.

This year's first of 17 rounds will be historical - for the first time in 40 years of racing, 10 riders with 450 Supercross main event wins will be vying for points.

And the immediate favorite is Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villipoto. The reigning AMA SX Champion clinched the title last year at round 13 of 17 in Houston; it was the earliest a rider ever clinched a Supercross title.

The two-time AMA SX Champ (2010, 2012) will have much work ahead of him due to challenges by some of the greatest riders in Supercross history, including three former champions - Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stewart (2007, 2009), Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey (2010), and Two-Two Motorsports Honda's Chad Reed (2004, 2008).

Villopoto, who became the first rider in history to win both meets at Angel Stadium last year, will also have much pressure from the returning Trey Canard. The Muscle Milk Honda rider sustained three fractured vertebrae and a spinal-cord injury during round three at Dodger Stadium (not on 2013 AMA SX Schedule) last season, and was forced to miss the rest of the SX series and the AMA Motocross Championship. But following nearly a year of recovery, Canard will return to challenge the field once again.
There will also be two threats graduating to 450 SX from the 250 SX class - GEICO Honda's Justin Barcia and Monster Energy Kawasaki's Dean Wilson.

But though Villopoto clinched the title at round 13, as fate would have it he suffered a major crash at his home round in Seattle. During the wreck, Villopoto tore his ACL, and was forced to miss the final three races of the season.

Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F) says: "(Last year in 2012), I worked harder than I ever have. However, backing up what you have already done definitely brings added pressure to win."
The man who took second overall at last year's Anaheim I race, Reed, was also severely injured last season during a crash at Cowboys stadium. During the SX wreck, Reed fractured his T-6, broke two ribs, a tibia and fibula, and tore his ACL, LCL and meniscus.

But Reed will be looking to return to his consistent ways. He holds the record for all-time podium finishes, which stands at 119 in 148 starts. And in 85 percent of those 148 450 SX starts, he finished in the top five (129 times).

Chad Reed (Two-Two Motorsports Honda CRF450R) says: "I've seen a lot in my life career. I've been a big sponge and taken it all in - the good, the bad, the ugly. l have lived life to the fullest, and I believe that helps me stay motivated and committed to what I love to do on the weekends. I've been very lucky to have always been in the fight for podiums, wins and the title. I'm hoping '13 will be no different! I learned a lot in 2012, and I'm ready to put that to good use."

The man who finished third at Anaheim I last year also received some injuries in 2012 SX. The then-reigning SX Champion, Dungey, broke his collarbone while practicing at his training facility. Dungey didn't stop racing, though. And while vying for points in St. Louis, Dungey made the injury worse en route to a second-place finish. Dungey experienced pain for the rest of the season, but still gave KTM two wins, including the Austrian manufacturer's first ever 450 SX win, and best-season finish ever - third.
As for James Stewart, his 2012 season was marred by wrecks - the Floridian crashed in seven of 11 races, though he won two main events. Throughout the first 10 races, he averaged a fifth-place finish or better, but then crashed.

Feld Motor Sports says "considered the fastest man on the planet, Stewart either wins or crashes 91 percent of the time. To crack the code, Stewart needs to slow down to win championships. His lifetime winning percentage in races where he did not crash is 84.62 percent. When he won his first of two championships in 2007, his winning percentage in races where he did not crash was 100 percent."

James Stewart (Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450) says: "It's going take speed, but it's probably going to be about consistency more than anything. There are a lot of fast guys out there, and all of them want to win. None of us will have the luxury of a bad weekend this year."

Joining these premier-class greats will be Barcia, who finished second overall in his rookie 2010 season, and won the last two Eastern Regional Championships. Last season, Barcia won six of nine races, finishing 45 points ahead of KTM's Ken Roczen. Barcia will be looking to become the third rider in history to win a 450 Supercross Championship in his rookie year; Jeremy McGrath completed this feat in 1993, Dungey in 2010.
Speaking of being a serious title contender, Barcia says "that's the plan; that's what I was hired for. It's like 250cc (250SX Class) racing with more experienced riders."

With Barcia out of the 250 SX class, there will be much competition in the eastern conference between Roczen, Suzuki's Blake Wharton and Kawasaki's Blake Baggett. In the 250 SX Western Regional Championship, the compeition will be fierce between the reigning champ, Honda's Eli Tomac, Kawasaki's Dean Wilson, KTM's Marvin Musquin and Honda's Cole Seely.

JAMIE Whincup has made a late charge on his final flying lap to finish fastest in today's fourth and final practice for the Sydney Telstra 500.

As the chequered flag fell he leapt from 14th to first with a 1m.28.40s lap, knocking Ford Performance Racing's Will Davison off top spot.

"It was a tough day and the end result is probably a bit artificial," said Whincup.

"I struggled on the set of practice tyres and had to put a race set on to go quick, so we'll have to go quicker tomorrow to be up front."

"Apart from this, I think the debate tonight will be the kerb sensors. I think they'll be turned off tomorrow and in my opinion don't need them."

Second highest finisher Davison agreed with Whincup.

"They seem to be very inconsistent. On my quickest lap I didn't use much kerb and the sensor went off but the next lap I used much more kerb and it didn't go off."

Holden Racing Team's Garth Tander finished the session in third, splitting Davison and his FPR teammate Mark Winterbottom.

"We struggled a lot in the third practice, but then threw a different set up in it between sessions and the car came alive," said Tander.

"It's a credit to the guys, they really turned the car around. At least we're back on track and have a base set up that we can look at overnight and make better for tomorrow."

Lucky 7 Racing's Tim Slade was fifth, ahead of Craig Lowndes, this morning's frontrunner Tony D'Alberto, Jason Bright, Shane van Gisbergen and Steve Owen.

The V8 Supercars will on be track again early tomorrow (Saturday) for a short 20-minute Qualifying session at 9.25am AEDST, then the Top Ten Shootout will determine a pole position winner at 12.00pm AEDST.

Race 29 of the championship - a 74 lap race- will start at 3.05pm AEDST.

Keep checking back to BigPond Sport across the weekend for all the latest news and results from the Sydney Telstra 500.

Rookie Josef Newgarden, driving for local favorite Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing, has consistently been the fastest driver throughout the week at the famed IMS oval. And Marco Andretti, a more seasoned but still youthful American at age 24, turned the fastest lap of the week at 223.676 mph on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the mighty Ganassi and Penske teams have laid comparatively low, turning relatively few laps and conserving their limited supply of Firestone tires.

Michael Hickey/US PresswireIndyCar rookie Josef Newgarden has impressed with consistently high practice speeds at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

But the main reason that qualifying promises to be unpredictable is simple: The cars have not run in qualifying specification yet, and will not until Friday's six-hour practice session.

Qualifying spec normally involves teams trimming out their cars by taking away as much downforce and drag as possible. But this year, qualifying has a new twist: more power.

With the Dallara DW12 chassis not producing the kind of 225-mph laps that computer simulations predicted, INDYCAR is increasing turbocharger boost by just under 10 percent for Friday practice and qualifying weekend in an effort to bump up speeds.

The adjustment from 130 to 140 kPa of boost pressure is expected to produce an increase of about 40-50 horsepower and bump speeds by as much as 4 mph. However, because the fastest practice speeds were achieved with the benefit of aerodynamic tows worth up to 3 mph, the pole-winning speed is unlikely to be much faster than the fastest practice laps recorded to date using 130 kPa of boost.

The last-minute power boost has been met with mixed reactions. One leading team manager called it "the definition of insanity," reasoning that the extra power will fundamentally change the race car's handling balance they have been developing for the past six days.

There's a strong likelihood that the more powerful engines will catch someone off guard and produce the first crash in what has been a remarkably clean week on the track. Newgarden suffered the only spin, lightly damaging a wheel and suspension arms on his Dollar General-sponsored DW12 Honda.

INDYCAR officials are hoping for a pole speed approaching 225 mph.
