The city first must defeat NK Maribor at St Andrew's if they have the opportunity to progress from Group H and to 32 last.
Chris Hughton's side then need a helping hand from Braga as last season's beaten finalists have to beat Club Bruges.
That would put the level of Birmingham with Bruges, but give them the runner-up behind Braga's from record head-to-head against the side of Belgium better.
This is a difficult situation, but Burke is determined for the adventure to continue because he felt he had to prove they can live the City with the company after it was written from scratch.
