The population of mobile workers around the world will exceed the number 1 billion this year and continue to grow at around 1.2 billion people in 2013 to come. This figure will reach more than a third of the total number of workers.

According to the latest research and projections IDC, significant growth will occur in developing countries such as the Asia Pacific region. In the region, economic recovery went more quickly and interest in encouraging the growth of communications in all aspects of mobility.

"Opportunities exist to bring a large variety of mobile technologies into the workforce in the entire world," said Sean Ryan, Research Analyst IDC's Mobile Enterprise Software, on his statement, February 19, 2010.

Ryan says, outside the United States and Japan (where the penetration of mobile worker population has been at its peak), there is a population of workers who still continue to grow.

Currently, the United States is a country with the highest percentage of mobile workers with 72.2 percent of workers are mobile workers in the year 2008. U.S. itself will remain the center of mobile workers with 75.5 percent of their workers are 119.7 mobile workers in the upcoming 2013.

Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) represents the total number of mobile workers in the prediction IDC's largest, with 546.4 million mobile workers in 2008 and increased to 734.5 million, or 37.4 percent of the total workforce in 2013. IDC estimates that by the end of 2013, 62 percent of the world mobile workers will come from the Asia Pacific region outside Japan.

Western Europe, with 129.5 million (50.3 percent) mobile workers will surpass the United States and Japan in the upcoming 2013. As the year mobile worker population in Japan will reach 49.3 million people or 74.5 percent of all workers in the country.

Although not significant, but the number of mobile workers in other regions of the world such as Canada, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and Latin America also will grow to 153.2 million in 2013. In this area, the low penetration of mobile workers (13.5 per cent of all workers) indicates great growth potential.
