The 25-year-old won Saturday’s 15km stage from Tarragona to Mollet del Valles in a sprint and celebrated his second win of the season. Mollema was not able to keep up the pace and fell back into the field, but the two remaining escapees were able to stay off the front until the catch took place inside the 10km mark. Mollema started the day 1’12″ behind Contador, so the Saxo Bank team, along with Radioshack and Lampre-ISD, did the work at the front of the peloton and kept the pace high.
